Maiasaura facts

This duck bill dinosaur is the official state fossil of Montana . it was also the first dinosaur nest with babies to be found in the USA. By studying the babies and adults , scientists found that it took only one year for Maiasaura to grow to 3 feet long-adults were 32 feet . Such a rapid growth rate tell us that this dinosaur used much more  energy that today's reptiles use. "Maiasaura" took good care of their young and are known as nurtures . Females nested in large groups

Oviraptor facts

When it was first named , in 1924 , this theropod was thought to have died while robbing a nest of Protoceratops eggs. Now scientists know that it was protecting its own eggs. specimens have been found with adults sitting on top of eggs in nest , their feathered arms folded over to protect the eggs . "Oviraptor" had a wide variety of crest shapes that changed depending on how old they were. It had two tooth-like structures in the roof of its moth and its beak had no real teeth behind it.

This unusual ornithominosaur-a group of fast ostrich-like dinosaur -had more than 220 teeth. Most dinosaurs in this group had no teeth. The large number of small teeth acted like a fine cutting tool and possibly was used for filtering food from the water. It had a strong tongue its hand was long, with three fingers that acted together as a hook. Some skin impressions have been found but no true feathers.

This tiny birdlike theropod belonged to the same group as Oviraptor, but it was an earlier dinosaur. It had ratlike front teeth, instead of a toothless beak like its relatives -perhaps it was on the way to becoming a plant eater. Incisivosaurus had feathers and was about the size of a large bird. Its skull was only 4 inches long

Iguanodon facts

This is one of the most well-known dinosaurs, and the second one to be scientifically named . Its most famous feature is its thumb spike, which probably took out the eye of more than one theropod. Iguanodon was one of the first dinosaurs to be reconstructed , in 1852,in London . In 1878 , coal miners in Belgium, found a layer of rock full of fossils,or a bone bed, that contained more than 20 "Iguanodon" lived in herds, probably for protection . IT was active and was possibly the most widespread of the dinosaurs . Specimens gave been found in Africa, North america, Europe ,Asia
